Manuka (Leptospermum scoparium) is native plant is commonly found throughout New Zealand. The Maori people used Manuka as a plant for making many medicines that they claimed great benefits to health. Recently the plant has been used to conduct research to evaluate its application in clinical and medical applications. Main production areas are in the undeveloped areas of the North and South Islands. Organic Manuka honey is market as creamed.
